EYMD Team
Hello, my name is Asia. Or Joanna, that’s right, but in Polish ‘Joanna’ is really formal and makes me feel
old. Very old. I’m from Poland, but I’m studying German and Politics at the University of Edinburgh. No, I didn’t think studying German in a German speaking country would make more sense.
I love hiking, learning languages, travelling. So the first thing I think about before going to another country is: „OK, how much time do I have to learn the language?”
Also, I’m addicted to news and reading newspapers. I’ve worked as a journalist for the Journal, a major student newspaper in Edinburgh – I’m most interested in printed media. But I can imagine myself working in a radio, too. Or in TV. Or anywhere else, too. My imagination is very vivid, you see. I participated in the EYMD 2007, it was great of course, and that’s why I’m back here to help organise EYMD 2008.
tach zusammen! my name is André and I’m 21 years old. Born and raised in Germany, I spent twelve months with elderly in Paris in 2007; now my home for two years is Maastricht in the Netherlands where I’m doing “European Studies”. Rent in bordering Belgium is lots cheaper than in the city, so I’m biking over the border twice every day to get to university and back. My dream in life: understand the UN General Assembly without needing interpreters. Looking forward to working with you crazy Europeans!!My name is Joana and I’m 28 years. I studied Law and afterward Journalism in Lisbon. During my studies in Law School I made a specialization in European Union Law. After a period working as a Lawyer I decided to pursuit an ol
d dream and study Journalism. During one year I attended TV, Radio and Press studies also in Lisbon. After that, in 2004, I started working as a freelance journalist. In last June I participate in the
first EYMD and because of that I turned out to be one of the founders of the Youth Press Portugal. Being part of the EYMD organisation team this year is a way of thanking what the experience gave to me last year and also a manner to offer a bit of that to others.
I guess I don’t think a lot when I think about going to another country, I just go. But, well, as writing is a huge part of my job and also my favourite hobby, I wonder “how must be the computers keyboard layout there?”, because it depend on the country and on the language and sometimes it can be very tricky
My name is Marin
a and I am 21 years old. The first years of my life I spent in the Ukraine, enjoying a happy childhood with my dear grandmother and her certainty that every little girl should be with a bold head and eat oatmeal porridge at least once every morning. Despite my deep fears that my parents won’t recognize my new identity some years later I moved to Bulgaria proud that later in my life I would be able to tell all my friends about my ex-haircut and this remarkable memory.
In Bulgaria I spent the rest of my childhood and teenage years, studying German, working with kids and enjoying my life and friends at the place, that I will always call home. During this time I started writing essays and articles, proving to myself that if there is something that you would like to say, there will always be someone to listen. Remember the story about the girl with nice haircut?
After graduating I moved to Berlin, in danger of falling in love for the third time. And forgive me my weakness, it happened again. Since I live here, every time when I go somewhere else I know that it is not about seeing a new country, but seeing it with eager eyes. So the only thing that I think of when I think about going to another country is not to forget my contact lenses.
Hi, all! I‘m Denisa and I am proud to be one of the two Romanians
to organize EYMD 2008, one of the greatest media events dedicated to young journalists all over Europe! I’m an active media maker in the youth movement field and founder of the Association of Students in Journalism and Communication Studies Romania. Ready to start proving that European youngsters have something great to say? I am. See you at the event!
A young and motivated aspiring journalist from Belgium, that’s me in a nutshell. I am Yannick and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Brussels. I was a participant at last year’s Youth Media Days and in the meantime I have participated in some other EYP activities. Now I am very much looking forward to being on the organizational side and helping create an extraordinary event like EYMD.
In my spare time, I like to take photographs and write for an online magazine that I started with a couple of friends (www.exhibit.be). Like most people, I also enjoy good food and drinks, traveling and meeting with friends. In Brussels, I’ll be more than happy to make you familiar with the wide range of excellent Belgian beers
Oh, and the first thing that I think of when I think about going to another country is probably: “What will the food and weather be like over there?”
